Work underway to repair Paddington Terrace

By Halshane Burke

Works is underway to repair the massive road failure along Paddington Terrace in St. Andrew.

A section of the newly paved roadway gave way following heavy rains last week.

A developer was granted approval to make a connection to the NWC's sewer system and the embankments failed as a result of the torrential rainfall.

Stephen Shaw, Communication Manager at the National Works Agency, said the agency has engaged the developer and remedial work is underway.

"When we gave permission for the work to be done there, we also secured a bond that...if anything happened to the road in a 12-month period, either the contractor fix or we fix from the money we are going to be holding for the next year or so. As it relates to the current situation, they have had to go in and treat with it, and so that's the understanding that we have and they have actually started," he disclosed.

Mr. Shaw was speaking Tuesday on the Morning Agenda on Power 106.
