Back-to-back world 200-metre champion Shericka Jackson is now the owner of four of the six fastest times ever run over 200 metres as she decimated the field at the Diamond League meet in Brussels, Belgium on Friday.

Jackson stormed to a Diamond League record 21.48 seconds, just 7 hundredths of a second slower than her world-leading and World Championships record 21.41 seconds done in Budapest, Hungary.

It was the 4th fastest time ever run in the event and now means that Jackson owns the second, third, fourth and sixth fastest times in history.

2-time World Championships silver medallist Shanieka Ricketts was also a standout on the day as she leapt beyond 15 metres for the first time in her career to win the women’s triple jump.

Ricketts’ 15.01 metres was almost half a metre better than second place Maryna Bekhromanchuk of Ukraine who had a best effort of 14.57 metres. Ricketts’ Jamaican teammate Kimberly Williams was 5th with a best effort of 13.96 metres.

Back-to-back Olympic double sprint champion Elaine Thompson-Herah continued her improvement this season winning the 100 metres in a season’s best 10.84 seconds.

Rusheen McDonald was the other Jamaican winner on the day, taking the men’s 400 in 44.84 seconds.
