MASERU – The techno-junkies will be spoilt for choice as Lesotho will host the first ever Google Developers Festival (DevFest) this coming Saturday in Maseru.

These developments were revealed by Lesotho’s Google Developers Group lead organizer ‘Maneo Mapharisa.

The event is organized by the Google Developers Group (GDG) Maseru.

The much anticipated event will be hybrid.

Mapharisa said they are looking forward to welcome attendants from institutions of higher learning, graduates and professionals.

The GDG Maseru said it strives towards “bringing awareness of available Google and Open Source products, everything from Android to APIs.”

Technology has been marked as the instrument that is critical in the achievement of the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

It has been used as an important tool mostly during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to address daily challenges and mitigate problems while also making communication seamless.

“DevFest is a local tech conference hosted by Google Developer Groups (GDG) around the world. Each DevFest event is crafted by its local organizers to fit the needs and interests of its local developer community.

Whether it be through hands-on learning experiences, technical talks delivered in local languages by experts, by simply meeting fellow local developers, DevFest attendees get opportunity to connect with other Developers from different countries so as to enhance skills,” reads statement by GDG Maseru.

The event has attracted local speakers and those from abroad. They will be drawn from countries such as United States of America, India, Netherlands and South Africa.
