LNIG Hollard has partnered with Tracker Lesotho to come up with an insurance policy specifically tailored to cover women drivers.

Dubbed ‘All for Her Motor insurance”, the product is meant to provide safety and convenience for women drivers. The launch was held this week at Lancers inn, Maseru.

LNIG Hollard General Manager, Tumelo Kepa, explained that the product was designed for a specific market of women drivers.

He said women were a vulnerable group, often a target for carjackers and other forms of crime.  They had therefore come up with an insurance cover which would best respond to their insurance needs.

“Women are the most vulnerable group in our society and are often the victims of crime and we decided to come up with a solution to minimize the crimes against them with this product,” Mr Kepa said.

“The product will be provided in an affordable manner to women. This is our way of giving back to the society and embracing our women. It is a product tailored for this country’s women so let us embrace it.”

LNIG Hollard’s head of underwriting, Kefuoe Ramokhele, said the latest product was an expansion of their insurance offerings as they wanted to find solutions to challenges that women in different societies faced.

“We have realized that despite the general efforts made by the government and relevant entities in resolving issues around financial inclusion, women are generally excluded. As LNIG, we saw that there has been minimal effort to address these barriers which include women’s ability to access insurance,” Mr Ramokhele said.

Mr Ramokhele said the product was packaged as a holistic lifestyle solution. He said they had gone an extra mile to try and mitigate financial and social challenges that Basotho women face.

“This insurance product has an emergency toolkit that all women can take on the road; there is a theft retrieval benefit where one’s car is stolen can be located and retrieved; roadside and medical assistance where one is stranded, with a 24-hour helpline available on the mobile phone app”, he said.

Among other benefits of the product was a reminder to their clients when their car registrations or driving licenses have expired. There was also an additional feature called the Share Journey which allows the female driver to share their location with their loved ones as well as detect safe location zones.

He said to ensure safety for women on the roads they will further organize a defensive driving course where they will be able to help them navigate challenges they might encounter on the road. Anyone who completes this course will enjoy a premium discount every year.
