SLB hosts career day for employees

Tokelo Khausela

STANDARD Lesotho Bank (SLB) this weekend hosted a career day to expose its staff to different courses that they can take to improve their skills.

The event was held at the City Branch in Maseru and was addressed by CEO Anton Nicolaisen and representatives of different local tertiary institutions who shared with the staff the programmes that they offer.

Addressing the staff, Mr Nicolaisen said this was the bank’s way of enhancing quality service for its clients by equipping its employees with the requisite skills.

Some of the tertiary institutions that participated in the event are Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Lerotholi Polytechnic and the Institute of Extra Mutual Studies (IEMS).

Mr Nicolaisen said investing in the welfare of its employees was paramount for building great client services.

“When we are investing in our people, we are simultaneously building local capabilities for them as the bank seeks to rejuvenate the employees’ careers as some have different aspirations,” he said.

“When we enrich them with knowledge together with universities that offer modern technological skills, we can take Lesotho to higher dimensions.”

The dean of the school of continuing education at Lerotholi Polytechnic, ‘Mapitso Masekoane, said her institution specifically catered for students who have working experience.

“The school offers advanced computer skills and programming courses that are affordable and convenient for the working class,” Ms Masekoane said.

She added that their lessons were flexible and ranged from three months to a year in length.
