Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for Central region Zelia Khumbize Chakale has resigned from her position with immediate effect.

In a WhatsApp text sent to all DPP members Chakale has resigned on personal grounds.

“I step down as VP Central Region. I write to inform you that I’ve stepped down as VP Central Region on personal grounds.

“I thank the President for entrusting me with such a noble position of the party at the time when there was need. I’ve done my part,” said Chakale.

Chakale took over from Uladi Mussa after he was convicted.

The party is yet to comment on the matter.
