Driver nabbed for forgery in Lumbadzi

Police in Lumbadzi have arrested a Honda freed taxi driver, Isaac Mulumba, 32, for allegedly forging and altering General Receipt documents (GR).

According to the reports filed by Lumbadzi Police Station Traffic department, Mulumba was using an altered GR document which was issued on September 20,2023 by Central East Region Police headquarters traffic officers and he doctored it to read September 26.

Lumbadzi Police traffic officers who were on traffic check at Kamuzu International Airport junction got suspicious of the date of issuance and verified it with their colleagues in Kasungu at Central East Region Police headquarters, who said the document was issued to the driver on 20th September not on 26th.

In view of this, Mulumba was arrested by Lumbadzi Police and has also been charged with other traffic offences ranging from exceeding seating capacity, contravening payment and route.

He will appear before the court of law soon to answer charges of forging and altering documents.
