Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been attacked and robbed at his home in Paris, France.

Gianluigi Donnarumma who currently plays for Paris Saint Germain was attacked by a gang of armed robbers in the presence of his lover, Alessia Elefante.

A report from the police in France claimed that the Italy national team first choice goalkeeper was targeted by the gang and attacked at their flat in the eighth area of Paris earlier today, July 21.

After the attack, Donnarumma who sustained minor injuries courtesy of the attack had to run from his house to a nearby hotel alongside his lover for safety.

After they arrived at the hotel, the hotel staff took the lovers to the hospital for medical attention even though the footballer’s girlfriend was not physically hurt.

Unconfirmed reports on the news website Actu17 state that the attackers stole expensive watches, jewels, and leather goods worth up to €500,000 from Gianluigi Donnarumma’s house.

The agency representing the footballer issued a statement earlier in the day that the one-time European champion and his girlfriend “are in shock at what happened but doing well under the terrible circumstances”.

The lovebirds are currently assisting the police in their investigations which has since commenced according to the agency.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is the latest PSG player that has been attacked by a gang of robbers. Past and present PSG players like Marquinhos, Angel Di Maria, Thiago Silva, Dani Alves, and Eric Choupo-Moting have been robbed while playing for the French Ligue 1 champions.
