KARONGA-(MaraviPost)-Karonga United came from a goal down to earn a hard fought 2-1 win over strugglers TN Stars in a TNM Super League match played on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

The victory which was the hosts third win on the bounce at home continues the revival under tactician Christopher Nyambose who has overseen his side collect 10 points out of a possible 12 at home since taking over from Lazarus Magaya.

Inform attacking midfielder Josia Duwa proved to be the hero for the home side as he helped himself to a brace after the visitors had earlier taken a shock 1-0 lead courtesy of Alexander Cosmas.

The encounter played at the Karonga Stadium saw TN Stars coach Kondwani Mwalweni make a losing return to his former club who did enough to edge out the away side in an entertaining match that was characterized by wastefulness by the two sets of players.

Meanwhile the victory lifted Karonga United up to 10th on the 16 team member league on 13 points from 11 matches while TN Stars stay in 15th on eight points from 12 games.

In a post-match interview Karonga coach Christopher Nyambose, expressed delight in his lads fighting spirit to come from behind and earn the win.

“It was a tough game today our visitors really gave us a test but luckily enough my lads overcame the challenges that was asked from us and in the end the win was well deserved,” said an ecstatic Nyambose.

However his counterpart Kondwani Mwalweni, bemoaned the officiating in the defeat saying the refereeing left a lot to be desired.

“I thought it was a well-balanced game but the officiating let us down and spoiled the game and our chance of earning anything from the match,” said a frustrated coach.
