203 arrested for flouting RMCO rules

The offences which saw 203 people arrested yesterday included the failure to wear face masks in public.

PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 203 people yesterday for various offences under the recovery movement control order.

Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a statement today that 44 were remanded and 159 issued compounds.

The offences include flouting Covid-19 SOPs, failing to wear a face mask, violating quarantine regulations and participating in large gatherings that made physical distancing difficult.

A total of 4,511 compliance task force teams involving 16,070 personnel conducted checks at 3,900 supermarkets, 5,452 restaurants, 1,704 hawker stalls, 1,639 factories, 3,703 banks and 903 government offices.

Meanwhile, Ismail said 10,838 individuals arrived through the country’s entry points from July 24 to yesterday, and were sent to 65 quarantine facilities.

Ismail also said that one of the 13 flights that landed at KLIA yesterday was not on the original list of arrivals. He said its 104 passengers were sent to various hotels for quarantine.
