A nongovernmental organisation under the auspices of Victoria Olatunde Foundation in collaboration with Vientriel School of Entrepreneurs has embarked on two months programme, empowering young Nigerians by way of giving them training on entrepreneurship, using online virtual and physical classes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Founder the foundation, Amb. Mrs. Victoria Olatunde-Young, stated this yesterday during the empowerment programme, that the two months training which started in June will be rounded up this July, adding that the gesture is to complement the efforts of the government especially at this trying time.
Olatunde-Young, while speaking with Journalists in Abuja, stated that at the of the training, participants would be fit into scheme of things in the country and even beyond, adding that the sooner the African youths stop wasting their lives waiting to get jobs and big capital funding and embrace small beginnings which will grow into bigger ventures, the better.
She asserted that the gesture will go a long way to help reduce the level of poverty and unemployment in the country, adding that youths do not have to wait for huge amount of money before starting up an entrepreneur.
Talking about the scourge of Covid-19 pandemic, she said it has affected the economic situation of Nigeria and the world at large, saying that lots of businesses have been paralysed and some completely shut down as many lost their jobs while some have their salaries slashed due to the effect of the pandemic on businesses.
According to her, “The Foundation has provided facilitators to handle trainings such as: Urban gardening, Dressmaking, Spa & Beauty, Voice over artistry, Catering, Digital Marketing, Fashion Illustration, and much more to the underprivileged youth and women in this BOOTCAMP 2020…completely free of charge”
“At the end of the training, the best participants will be appreciated, rewarded and Empowered with a start small seed grant and start up equipment to get started in their various areas of interest. The participants will be followed up and mentored free of charge afterwards to ensure they use the opportunity wisely and limit their mistakes and challenges” she said.
Amb. Mrs. Olatunde-Young mentioned that the startup financial support and equipment will also help the youths get their businesses running to a reasonable extent in this covid19 pandemic season.
“These finalists will be evaluated and scored according to performance and productivity at the end of 3months, 6months, 9months and 1 year respectively. Those who do not make it to the final stage will be awarded certificate of participation as they have also been touched and transformed via the trainings” she said.
The youth expressed their sincere appreciation to the Foundation and the founder, Ambassador Mrs. Victoria Olatunde-Young, for coming to their aide and by giving them hope at this trying period.
The Victoria Olatunde Foundation is an NGO dedicated towards empowering underprivileged women and youths over the years. The foundation has also empowered thousands of youths in Africa with skill trainings, funding and equipment.
