The elite police squad freed the Nigerian Army personnel from insurgents in Borno State.

The terrorists killed their colleagues during an offensive on the patrolling troops.

The Police Situation Report (SITREP) on the operation was released on Tuesday, according to PRNigeria.

It noted that 2:30pm of July 13, 20120, “an Army Patrol Team was attacked by Boko Haram along Auno Road”.

The sect killed two soldiers and kidnapped others.

Two military gun trucks, AK 47 rifles and unspecified numbers of ammunition, were carted away.

The report added that all exhibits have been handed over to the Commissioner of Police, Borno Command.

However, Nigerian troops thwarted an attempt by Boko Haram to seize an Army cantonment in Maiduguri.

Terrorists opened fire on the 333 Artillery Barracks but were resisted.

Heavy exchanges of fire lasted for two hours between late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
