Agmark-Sepik 9s tourney gets K100,000

AGMARK-Sepik rugby league nine’s tournament gets major boost from an international firm to host their competition later next month.

A company known as operated as the Yuan Fang Architectural Decoration Project (PNG) Ltd (YFIG) has come on board with more than K100,000 to support the annual offseason tourney, hosted in the East Sepik province.

The tournament will be hosted at the end of November and will feature more than 20-teams right around the country at the Wewak’s Pora Oval, to support the local Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup franchises for the preseason trainings.

Company CEO Kiyokawa Shoichi added that education and sports should run parallel for a stronger nation and they are ready to support the local sporting competition.

“We are happy to support Sepik Pride,” Shoichi said before presenting a K100,000 cheque to Pride project manager Bradley Simon.

“Education is important then followed by sports.

“We need to have a good body so then we can make our country strong.

“We like to support sports or education to young people of this country and build the nation.

“We wanted to give our support to the country to the young people so they make changes to the country.

Simon commended the support, adding that YFIG was not the first to lend its helping hands to the province as they are also building a market in the township as well as a military barracks.

“Representing the people of Sepik and the Sepik rugby league including Pride, I would like to commend and say thank you to YFIG under the leadership of the CEO and everyone to come onboard to support the community.

“It’s part of the company’s commitment of giving back to the country and your support will go a long way in support and giving an opportunity to young talents in the province.”
