Be alert in Independence Week, LCCI urges

The LCCI says crime tends to escalate in weeks like Independence Week.

"Our police are constrained in terms of numbers and funding, so where and how you can, be vigilant and watchful," the LCCI said in its weekly newsletter.

A reminder also that Friday September 15 is the Gazetted Public Holiday and Saturday 16 November, the official Independence Day, is a normal work day.

Meanwhile, policing and security in and around Lae City will be the subject of a briefing to be held on Wednesday, September 13 at the lae Yacht Club.

The guest speaker will be inspector James Luan, of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.

Reservations, as usual, through Ensie Rennie at the LCCI, email or call before 12 noon on Tuesday, September 12.
