Deal signed with Porgera landowner company

AN Umbrella landowner company from Porgera in the Enga province has signed a memorandum of agreement with a major vehicle distributor for 60 Kenworth trucks to participate in the new Porgera gold mine.

The Agreement was signed between the Directors of Ari Group Holding Limited, the Umbrella Company belonging to the Porgera Special Mine Lease Landowners, led by chairman Sole Taro and chairman of the Porgera Landowners Association Tony Mark Ekepa with WR Carpenters Group Manager Boe Daera and PNG EPCM Limited represented Karl Yalo.

Through the MOA, WR Carpenters, through its subsidiary Boroko Motors, will supply 60 new Kenworth trucks to the landowners through their company, Ari No.7 Transport Limited to participate in the transport service for the new Porgera Limited.

The Agreement was signed at the PNG EPCM Limited head office at Gordon in the NCD.

Through the Agreement, K150 million funding will be used as collateral to purchase the vehicles.

While the remainder will be paid over time until such a time when the Ari Holding Limited pay off the cost.

The vehicles will then be owned by the landowners through their company.

Mr Daera said he is proud to work with landowners to build capacities like the agreement to supply 60 trucks to Ari Holing Limited through its subsidiary Ari No,7 Transport Limited.

Mr Taro said the Porgera landowners are now ready to participate in the project after missing out on the benefits over the past 30 years of the mine life.

Wesley Yosia, Director of Ari Group Holdings and Public Officer and Tony Mark Ekepa also shared the same sentiment that they are ready to submit their proposal to be factored in the Community Development Agreement.

Witnessing the MOA signing includes Yalo Kapili, company secretary of Ari Group Holding Limited and legal counsel, Wesley Yosia, Director of Ari Group Holdings and public officer, Kensary Lawaipa, LMP landowners Representative and Paiam town council.
