Governor Rapa commends Holden

Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority (WHPHA) acting chief executive officer Jane Holden was thanked by the Western Highlands Provincial Government for managing the Mt Hagen General Hospital without a board.

The hospital in Western Highlands Province has being operating without a board for over two years until last Friday. Ten new board members were sworn in at the Mara Haus, in Mt Hagen.

Swearing in as the WHPHA chairman was the Internal Revenue Commission Chief Commissioner Sam Koim.

Western Highlands Governor Wai Rapa expressed appreciation and gratitude towards Ms Holden for a wonderful management during the absence of a board.

“Even though Ms Holden is an expatriate, she never entertains Hagen politics or anybody outside with their personal interest to obstruct negativity in her office.

“She stood up for the province in saving thousands of lives in the province as well others in the neighbouring highlands provinces, therefore, I commend her for that,” he said.

Mr Rapa said so many complaint letters from the senior hospital staff and even other Western Highlanders on Ms Holden doing this and that but nothing could be said or done as there was no board in place.

He has congratulated the new ten board members for acquiring these volunteer positions, and also thanked the previous board members who have been committed in lifting the hospital phase to where it is now.

“With the new board set in place, I will be very vocal on the construction of a very big Highlands Regional General Hospital to be erected in Mt Hagen,” Governor Rapa said.
