Health expo gives information

THE Health Expo at the Morobe Show provides an opportunity for people to learn about issues and get advice.

The expo is supported by Colgate-Palmolive PNG under the brand Colgate again this year.

Last year, the company gave K20,000 towards the event and the majority of the fund was used to provide resources to poorly-funded health NGOs to encourage them to attend the show.

The show’s health expo Councillor Idau Raka said the expo is a place for people to learn about many health issues.

“Many people particularly from remote rural areas of Morobe don’t get the opportunity to find out about topical health issues and obtain advice on matters that are concerning them and their families.

“The Health Expo is a venue where these matters can be addressed discreetly and safely,” Ms Raka said.

“The Morobe show health expo gives both government and non-government health related organisations the opportunity to publicise their programs and support services to those that attend the Morobe Show.

“Some organisations offer such services as immunizations, HIV testing, advice on family and sexual violence issues and dental checks, just to name a few.”

Organisations that are expected to participate this year in the expo include Colgate-Palmolive, Marie Stopes, Femili PNG, Angau Hospital, World Vision PNG Cancer Relif, PNG Family Health, Lae International Hospital, Angau Blood Bank, Susu Mama and National Maritime Safety Authority.
