Jiwaka to access better network

The local population in Jimi district, Jiwaka province will soon have access to a better communication network since a new telecommunication tower will be built soon.

Jimi MP Wake Goi is partnering with Digicel (PNG) Limited to have the communication tower erected at Gobo Village in Upper Jimi.

He paid the payment of K450,000 which is half of the total cost of establishing the tower that will serve the population including staff and students of the newly established all-girls school of excellence.

The tower will also service the upcoming provincial correctional services establishment under construction, the Wara Mants referral Health Centre and other government institutions in the district.

Mr Goi said his district was proud to partner with Digicel as a major telecommunications service provider to deliver a critical service to the people and enhance communication in the district.

Digicel PNG, Senior Vice President Lorna McPherson while receiving the cheque from the MP thanked him for his initiative to partner with PNG’s largest mobile service provider.

Ms McPherson assured that Digicel PNG Limited will continue to assist with the development aspirations of the government of PNG.
