Lahanis forward claims Rookie of the Year award award

Goroka Lahanis powerhouse interchange forward Manu Sent walks off with the prestigious Rookie of the Year award which was held on Monday night at the APEC Haus.

Sent was one of the notable leaders of the pack, which always fires up at the middle every time he comes on for the red and white army.

Started his career back in the Western Highlands while taking part in the offseason leagues and nine’s competitions, the Bintangor Ltd-sponsored nabbed him rightly this season which he delivered for them.

Despite not able to earn a starting role in every game he played, the jumper 16 was his own and was one of the crowd favorites, simply to his bone crushing tackles, hits and runs.

Sent came on 20-minutes before break in the major grand final against the Enga Mioks and also played another 20-before he was subbed.

Sent including Zededee Urumba, Kumani Agumagu, Ake Paluse, Philip Iveke, Thompson Teteh, Palangat Kanini and Christopher Urakusie were all on their toes in ensuring Lahanis-walk past the rampaging Mioks yet it did not eventuate the way they expected.

Head coach Charlie Wabo commended him for his tireless job throughout the season, even they were unable to lift the trophy last week to celebrate the inaugural season for man like Sent.

“He was one of our consistent forwards in the clubs throughout the season,” Wabo said of Sent.

“This year is his first season with Lahanis but very effective and fire coming on the bench.”

Premiership winning mentor Wabo knew what this man can do, unleashed him every after 20-minutes and there goes Sent getting the job done.

Last year, Enga Mioks winger Joel William got the award for his strong start of the career which this year he won the grand final with the Engan franchise.
