Man arrested with fake K100

A SUSPECT was caught inside a shop with a fake K100 note allegedly trying to purchase goods yesterday at Badili in Port Moresby.

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent Silva Sika said a closed-circuit television footage recorded the movement of a group of men inside Badili Stop and Shop was sent to police and a follow up call was made by the security manager from City Pharmacy Limited.

Within minutes, police arrived at the scene and arrested one suspect while the others escaped.

Members from Sector Patrol 104 successfully apprehended the suspect who tried to escape but was chased on foot by police and was caught.

“We are now liaising with the CPL security manager and necessary statements will be handed in by the workers on duty at the time of the incident for formal investigation and arrests to be done,” Met Supt Sika said.

He said the suspect was taken to Hohola police station and handed to the minor crimes division for further information gathering.
