Minister Kuli attends world coffee meet

The Minister for Coffee and Anglimp South Waghi MP Joe Kuli officiated at the 5th World Coffee Conference in India on Monday.

He was invited and given the honour by the government of India to cut the ribbon to officially open the International Coffee Exhibition.

Mr Kuli was among a high-profile delegation including the chairman of the International Coffee Council Max Fabien from Italy, Minister for Commerce and Industry for India Sheri Pixyish Goal, PNG High Commissioner to India, Paulias Korni and Chief Executive Officer for Coffee Industry Corporation Charles Dambui who attended the conference.

He expressed his gratitude to the Minister for Commerce and Industry as well as the Indian government for the splendid hospitality and consideration given since his arrival in India.

Mr Kuli said from India yesterday that he was happy to represent the ministry in the international arena.

Other speakers praised Mr Kuli as being the first minister in the world appointed with the sole responsibility for coffee.

Several speakers spoke highly of the ministry that Mr Kuli is heading because the PNG government made significant commitment towards the coffee industry.

On Sept 28 (today) Mr Kuli will attend the 136th session of the International Coffee Council where he will sign the new International Coffee Agreement on behalf of the government of Papua New Guinea.
