More donor partnerships needed

There is a greater need to work closely with international development partners to advance development in the country.

Newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Jimi District in, Andrew Kumie said this during his independence speech at Kawil Primary School last Friday.

He said that despite being independent, we’re still not truly independent because of the borrowing culture that has left us in debt.

“The only option now is to establish connections with our international development and humanitarian partners to develop our districts, towns and cities,” Mr Kumie said.

He commended the efforts of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) team led by Sebastian Hurukoli and Thomas Mek for delivering some WaSH kits in Tabibuga two weeks ago.

Mr Kumie said this was a perfect independence gift to the people of Morkai tribe.

“I commend IOM and its donor partners for considering the call of the provincial disaster manager, John Kupul by delivering vital needs for the displaced people.

“The administration stands ready to partner with you in future projects in the district,” he said.
