National Premier League is progressing well

The 2023 PNG National Premier League soccer season is very strong and competitive and that is what the competition Manager Ahmjad Tekwie is dreaming of in building an elite competition.

Tekwie said this year has seen all the team recruiting some of the best players that have delivered very strong performances and giving challenges to each other every week.

“We are now into round six each teams have identify who is the team to beat now but it’s still anybody’s game. What we can say is that because we have fewer teams now, each teams having the best players from other teams that don’t participate.” Tekwie said.

Tekwie said former NSL champions Lae City and Hekari might be giving hard challenge to teams but anyone can win as other teams have shown promising performances as well.

He said the games have progressed well so far however the only challenges being faced at the moment is the flight disruptions from Air Niugini but they were able to bring the teams in on time.

“So we don’t have any outstanding matches.” He said.

Meanwhile he also confirms that seven teams have paid up their registration fee whilst Madang FC management have promised to pay up this week.

“At this point we have seven teams pay up Madang FC pending. Hopefully they settle by this week, I’ve talked with their management, they mention that they should be able to settle this up before we moved in the next round.” He said.

Tekwie said apart from that if they (Madang FC) don’t solve it, all their remaining matches will be forfeited until they sort out because it’s not fair because the other seven clubs have already paid.

He added that they have secured a potential sponsors who at this who wish to remain anonymous until every details are finalize.

“We will be making those announcements when they give us the authority to do so.” He said
