Forty students of Waghi Wan Primary School in the Anglimp-South Wahgi district sat for the Written Expression examination on Monday.

Grade 8 student Manuel Romero and fellow students doing their grade 8 Written Expression exam on Monday.

They will complete other subjects in the exam this week.

Headmaster Barum Rongi said it is the first for the students to sit for the grade 8 exam.

He said the school started in 2020 with two classes – grade 3 and 4.

He said in 2021, it started grade 4 and made a huge jump to 6.

Mr Rongi said in 2022 it took grade 7 and grade 8 this year.

He said the school made a huge jump compared to nine other schools set up at the same time. These students, he said, are the pioneer Grade 8s of Waghi Wan.

“As headmaster I will never forget my students doing their exam. It is an experience that I will still remember for the rest of my life,” he said.
