Rangers keep city clean, tidy


TOURISTS, both overseas and local, have credited Kokopo for being the cleanest and most beautiful city.

The streets are clean, and people are respectful as they go about doing their daily activities in town.

Kokopo Town Rangers, a unit within the Kokopo Vunamami Urban LLG (KVULLG), are being commended for their efforts in keeping the streets clean and people behaving in town.

Led by team leader Patrick Varvala, the unit is made of eight members.
They have set themselves as one of the prominent groups in the general upkeep of Kokopo city.

“Our shifts start at 8am and ends at 4.06pm, Monday to Saturday. We conduct foot beat as well as car patrols around major street within Kokopo City,” Mr Varvala said.

He said the work they do includes conducting awareness on littering, restrict street selling, prohibits smoking and chewing betelnut at public areas.

He said they implement the regulations sets out by the KVULLG.
