Rosso acting Prime Minister while Marape on Israel tour

DEPUTY Prime Minister John Rosso is the acting Prime Minister for this week as the Chief Executive of the country James Marape kicked off his three-nation visit abroad.

Rosso, who is also the Lae MP and Minister for Lands and Immigration will hold the fort while Marape is visits Israel, Indonesia and France later this week.

Prime Minister Marape flew to the Holy City, Jerusalem for bilateral meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and to also officially open the PNG Embassy in Israel.

“The honourable John Rosso hold the forth assisted by the honourable Minister Duma (State Owned Enterprise Minister) while I am away,” he said.

Mr Marape said that while he will be away and out of the country for vital international visits, Rosso will take charge of the development forums that are currently taking place.

“A lot of work taking place and some of these international visits need to take place, it is no fun just travelling one day in between, someone has to do the job and I need to travel long hours, travel long distance to ensure our obligations to these international communities are met and these are three important nations,” he said.

But he will be back for the Porgera Development Forum which will return to Wabag, Enga Province.
