Rosso on Immigration plans

IMMIGRATION and Citizenship office in PNG plays a pivotal role in achieving its major objectives, Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso said.

Rosso said that the government’s vision for economic growth and prosperity was closely intertwined with the facilitation of a business-friendly environment which was linked to the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Authority’s (ICSA).

He was speaking at the opening of the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Authority’s (ICSA) very first Immigration Conference in Port Moresby this week.

“This conference represents yet another important initiative the Authority under its Key Priority Areas on Organization Reform and Service Delivery Improvements to engage with our clients from the public and private sectors and discuss in an open setting about our immigration services, especially on visa services.

“This is an area that the government is focused on and as Minister for Immigration and Border Security, I am keen to work with the CMO to drive the new reforms in visa services and improve our efforts to deliver the services to our clients efficiently and proficiently.

“The ability to attract foreign investment, foster international trade, and enable seamless travel for entrepreneurs and skilled workers is paramount to realizing this vision.

“ICSA plays a pivotal role in achieving these objectives, it is crucial that we recognize the significance of information sharing and the effective utilization of technology and resources. ICSA serves as a gateway, not just for travelers entering our country, but also as a bridge for businesses seeking to invest and grow in Papua New Guinea.

“The links between ICSA and the broader government objectives are evident in our dedication to enhancing traveler facilitation and ensuring that businesses can access skilled labour and expertise from around the world. By streamlining visa processing, adopting advanced technologies, and collaborating with key stakeholders, ICSA paves the way for seamless business operations, contributing to economic growth and job creation.

“I want to emphasize again for us to seize the opportunities that lie ahead, as we capitalize on the potential of Papua New Guinea for business, trade, and investment. Together, let us make the most of this opportunity to strengthen our collaborations and chart a course towards a more vibrant and prosperous Papua New Guinea.”
