Theme: ‘Respect & Decency in PNG Music’

The Office of Censorship under the Ministry for Community Development, Youth and Religion is organising a one-day music forum with the theme; “Respect and Decency in PNG Music”.

The forum, which is aimed at bringing together music artists, recording companies and the public to deliberate on the proposed General Guidelines for the classification of song lyrics and videos by local musicians in Papua New Guinea, will take place on Thursday, 10th of August, 2023 at the Stanley Hotel and Suites in Port Moresby.

In Accordance with Pillar 6 of the PNG Vision 2050 and the National Censorship Policy II (2021 – 2025), the Office of Censorship through its Enforcement & Compliance Division, is tasked with developing Classification Guidelines for the regulation of the PNG Music Industry.

Office of Censorship will need to gauge views and opinions from the musicians and all the other parties concerned in the Music Industry for a collaborative effort in drafting the guidelines.

Music enthusiasts, industry players and benefactors in the industry are encouraged to come and share your views and help progress our Music industry by developing the Guidelines, which our artists and musicians can use to produce decent content.

Due to limited space, participation is strictly by registration only. Please contact the Office of Censorship, Compliance Section on 323 1456 or email for registration.
