Tigers boosted with K100, 000

The Lae Snax Tigers were part of four recipients of support given by the Lae City Authority.

The support was for sporting clubs that represented the district of Lae and Morobe Province as a whole on various sporting competitions in the country.

Lae MP and Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso made the presentation to the Lae Volleyball Association, Morobe Rugby Union, Lae City Dwellers and Lae Tigers on Saturday.

He said there are so many things like road, health and education infrastructure to fix in Lae and whatever little the authority was able to come up with has been given to support the teams that have continued to represent Lae.

“I wish we could do more for our sporting representatives of Lae but we have schools and roads to build however, the little we (LCA) have has been given and will still continue to support the codes and association that represents us Lae in the country,” said Rosso.

“The Tigers were given a K100, 000 because last year we did not give them our contribution as promised to support the team every year.”

Tiger’s Coach Noel Zeming thanked Rosso for the support.

“It was a timely boost for the boys as the finals approaching.”

He said the sponsorship will help in supporting the team as they head into finals of the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup.

The recent issue of the recreational land outside the Lae Rugby league oval being fenced by an externally owned company Y&C Enterprise has had many citizens question the construction on site; however Rosso said he will ensure the land is returned to the people for leisure purposes.
