Why Michelle Dee Decided To Come Out After Miss Universe PH 2023 Pageant
MISS UNIVERSE PH 2023 – Beauty queen Michelle Dee shared the reason why she decided to come out after the Miss Universe PH 2023 pageant.
Miss Universe Philippines 2023 title was won by Kapuso actress and beauty queen Michelle Dee on her second attempt. She competed in the national pageant in 2022, however, her title was Miss Philippines Tourism.
Now Michelle is concentrating on representing the country in Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador later this year. She aims to bring home the fifth crown for the nation.
In case you missed it, Michelle Dee revealed this week that she is bisexual. Following her announcement, the new Miss Universe Philippines 2023 garnered a lot of support. But there has also been discussion of her coming out after the MUPH pageant.
The 28-year-old celebrity stated in an interview with Vogue Philippines, “[I] just felt like it wasn’t something that I needed to do to help my journey.”
Michelle continued by saying that she entered the competition to promote inclusivity, acceptance, and awareness of autism. She added that she had been told to come out sooner—before the pageant or perhaps during it.
“But to come out at that time, I felt, would have distracted my main mission because there’s so much about myself that I can show to the universe and not use my sexuality just to define me…”
“I just felt like it wasn’t the right time, or it wasn’t the right moment. To just use it for marketing, clout, or attention, it didn’t feel right,” she added.

According to Michelle, she wanted to come out on her own terms, “because that’s how anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community should be allowed to do. They should have the right to determine when they feel like they’re ready.”
The beauty queen also talked about her old pics as well. Despite the fact that it was distributed maliciously, she referred to it as an “empowering move.” She said, “What I’d like to show people is that when you’re put in a situation where somebody’s taking away your voice, you can always switch the narrative around and use it to empower you. It’s not something I’m ashamed of.”
Michelle wants to use her platform to help the LGBTQIA+ community now that she is out.
