TV host and former OWWA Deputy Administrator Arnell Ignacio is set to host “Sama Na, Census Na,” a three-part series that will feature and explain what the public needs to know about the 2020 Census of Population and Housing and the Philippine Statistics Authority. The infotainment program premieres this Sunday, August 16, on government channel PTV4 at 11 a.m.
In the maiden episode, Ignacio will interview National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Dennis Mapa, PhD and OIC National Deputy Statistician Minerva Eloisa Esquivias regarding the government agency, thereby outlining the purpose and important information on the upcoming 2020 Census of Population and Housing, which will officially start on September 1. The host-turned-public servant will also dissect PSA’s role in the lives of the Filipinos, most especially in data gathering and how these data help the government formulate policies and laws, as well as how companies use these data in order for them to analyze and strategize how they would properly run their businesses.
The 2020 Census of Population and Housing will follow government health protocols in conducting the census enumeration, while informing the public how everyone can participate, not only by face-to-face interviews with census enumerators, but also via other methods. Among these are the use of Self-Administered Questionnaire (SAQ), over-the-phone or Paper-Assisted Telephone Interview (PATI), and answering the census in PSA’s website or Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CATI), if the respondent is not comfortable answering the questions in their house.
Interesting trivia and animation will further spice up all the program to provide a better understanding of the census.
Moreover, the pilot will also feature the 2020 CPH infomercial featuring Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo, as well as the dance video performed by the PSA Central Office and Field Office Dancers from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, now making waves as a dance craze among social media personalities and influencers.
The 2020 CPH Jingle music used in the dance video was composed by PSA’s very own Flor Varona who wrote the lyrics and Roger Esquivias 3rd who took charge of the musical arrangement, as performed by PSA’s very own WeIRD Band.
