The Miss Solomon Islands Pageant 2022 is now set to happen following the signing of a contract between Solomon Host and Platinum sponsor Our Telekom.
Our Telekom will be providing $150,000 to support the event which will happen on the 9th-10th of December 2022, under the theme “Celebrating Women’s Resilience in the face of Global Crisis”.

“ We acknowledge our Telekom’s recognition for the support of women empowerment through this platform and contributing to the development of women and everyone, as women are the centers of our families.
And we sincerely thank them for taking up the platinum sponsorship just before we cancelled the event, and for reviving the event as it will be the biggest event in Honiara after the covid-19 pandemic.”
As the platinum sponsors, Our Telekom has the exclusive naming rights to the pageant and this year’s pageant will be Our Telekom Miss Solomon Islands Pageant 2022.
“Platinum sponsorship means they are the main sponsors for the event as a whole. With that comes some benefits like Our Telekom will have all the branding benefits and they’ll have exclusive naming rights so it will be Our Telekom Miss Solomon Islands Pageant 2022.
We will also be using their colors and merchandise for marketing promotions,” Ms. Konofilia said.
In terms of preparations Ms. Konofilia said they are on a tight schedule but work on rolling out the event will commence this week.
“Our team is ready to kick off the activities towards the event, especially trying to identify the contestants. We already have two and we are looking at getting another four of five and the show can start.
So, we will be advertising for the contestants to come forward this week and next week and then start to organize the charity visits, visits to the Prime Minister’s Office and getting the girls prepared for the four different categories.”

This year’s pageant will see a new addition to the events’ programs as a provincial visit is planned for the contestants.
Ms. Konofilia said they are looking at sending the contestants to do a one-day visit to Auki as part of their visits.
Meanwhile, Our Telekom Acting Chief Executive Officer Michael Palmer thanked Solomon Host for the opportunity.
“Telekom is proud to be a part of this package and this agreement does itself shows Telekom enlightening women, giving the right for gender so we really appreciate this opportunity.”
Our Telekom Marketing Manager Mr. Sean Hiele says they are pleased to have partnered with Solomon Host to roll out the event.
“Today is a significant event for Our Telekom, seeing this as an opportunity where we can help empower women, especially girls where we can create an avenue for them to be heard and to grow. Like now women are becoming key roles not only in their families but also in social and economic development as well.

The last Miss Solomon Islands Pageant and Miss Pacific Islands was held in 2019. Samoa was set to host the Miss Pacific Islands in 2020 but due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, it will now host the event next year in February 2023.
