Speaking after the signing, Mr. Sikua thanked Japan for their timely assistance which goes well with their plans to establish a sixth Form at the school.

“Let me convey our heartfelt gratitude for such an honor to respond positively to our request and be willing enough to fund such important project which will serve its intended purpose for the next 50 years or so, for our growing population.”

“ The Guadalcanal Provincial Government Education Authority has recommended Numbu CHS to establish Form 6 the past 3 years, but we have postponed due to the lack of classrooms and related facilities. We cannot run Form 6 classes with the limited resources at hand but today, that challenge is over,” said Sikua.

His Excellency Miwa also reiterated that one of the priority areas of their assistance under the Grassroots and Human Security Scheme is to support basic education because of its vital role in the development of societies and the country.

He also encouraged the community to work together for the completion of the project.

I sincerely hope this project will be remembered as a symbol of the friendship between the people of Japan and Solomon Islands.”
