The Newly Elected Speaker for Western Provincial Assembly is Ramrakha Aquila Talasasa, former member for ward 16 Dunde/Nusa Roviana in the previous assembly.
The election was held this morning at the XL building in Gizo Western Province.

The election was declared to the public by the clerk to the western provincial assembly Kersy Brian.
Two candidates were the final nominations for speaker’s position and they were Junior Patovaki and Ramrakha Talasasa. The speaker was elected on a closed ballot, with the results as – Ramrakha Talasasa polled 23 votes, Junior Patovaki polled 1 vote, and out of the 26 MPA’s of the Western Provincial Government Assembly, 2 MPA’s were absent.
The Newly elected speaker will preside over the election of the new Premier for Western Province this Friday 6th January 2023.
