Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare MP highlighted that as a government, the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) believed that an effective government system is one that is home- grown and is responsive to issues and challenges faced by the people it leads.
Honorable Prime Minister Sogavare echoed the sentiment last night, at the occasion of celebrating the 74th anniversary of the founding of PRC, and fourth anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister pointed out that there are many lessons to learn from PRC and one in particular is the ability of PRC to achieve economic development based on its own experience.
Honorable Sogavare added that this is similar to the“…Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement belief that an effective government system that addresses issues and challenges that people in Solomon Islands face is one that is home grown, one that takes into account our own traditional systems and practices”.
Prime Minister Sogavare also praised China for its “…rich history, ethnic unity and cultural diversity, and as an oriental power with good government, developed economy, cultural prosperity, national unity”.
PM Sogavare added that Solomon Islands is benefiting from China’s rich traditional history with the establishment of an outpatient acupuncture clinic- acupuncture therapy based on traditional Chinese medicine.
In paying tribute to the fourth anniversary of the diplomatic relations with PRC, the Prime Minister stated that the country has benefited a lot from its engagement and cooperation with China since the relations was established.

Honorable Sogavare further pointed out that PRC’s comprehensive vision to promote “…social, economic and infrastructural development in Solomon Islands…” is a sign of the strong bond between the two governments and its peoples.
“…I’m confident that going forward this partnership will be cemented and solidified to greater heights,” the Prime Minister added.
While acknowledging other bilateral partners’ contribution to the Pacific Games 2023, the Prime Minister paid tribute to China for being the largest infrastructure partner towards the Games.
PM Sogavare further acknowledged PRC’s support in rural advancement and other development programs, education and human resources development, health and medical sector.
The Prime Minister stated that the country is indebted to China’s assistances. PM Sogavare informed the PRC’s charge d’ affairs to convey the profound appreciation of the government and people of Solomon Islands to the government and good people of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
The PRC Charge d’ Affaires Ding Yonghua stated, the mutual trust and respect between the two countries have led to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
“China stands with Solomon Islands to safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests. China firmly supports Solomon Islands to choose it path of development”.
