Solomon Islands Infrastructure Program (SIIP) Highlights Women in Infrastructure

The Solomon Islands Infrastructure Program (SIIP) says it will be marking International Women’s Day with a radio panel talkback show.

The theme for the show will be “Infrastructure Mere – Embrace equity edition.”

The show will feature electrician Stephanie Siapu, National Hosting Authority (NHA) Project Engineer Freda Waki, and SIIP’s Deputy Team Leader Tony Telford and Ella Ghiro, Gender Coordinator.

A brief statement from SIIP says the panel will talk about their experience working in the building and construction industry, where most of the workforce is predominantly men.

The panel will also look at the contribution women make in the design and building of infrastructure in the country.

The Solomon Islands Infrastructure Program (SIIP) is Australia’s flagship 10-year AUD276 million/SBD1.65 billion partnership with the Solomon Islands to create local economic opportunities through a large pipeline of economic infrastructure projects. SIIP was launched in June 2021.
