Tennis Association justifies election, debunks NSA’s  claims

By: Dadson A. Musa

The Sierra Leone Lawn Tennis Association has stated that its elective congress staged on 26th August 2023 was legitimate and in line with the court order of which judgement was delivered on 16 June 2023 by Justice Alhaji Momoh-Jah Stevens.

The development is contrary to recent comment by the National Sports Authority Director of Participation, Steven Keilfela that the elections is ” null and void.”

According to the NSA Director, they were “not invited”, but according to the interim executive who conducted the election as instructed by the court order, a letter of invitation was sent to the NSA.

The Association stated that their constitution granted them the mandate to go ahead with the election as a quorum of simple majority was formed and every position available in the executive was contested and voted for.

“A formal report is being put together to be forwarded to sports ministry, NOC, NSA, ITF, CAF and the high court judge who gave the order and the out gone president. It was free, fair and credible by all indications,” the Association stated.

The newly elected executive headed by Andy Baum continues to prove their legitimacy and the elected president has vowed to inform Justice Momoja Stevens about the ongoing issue with the NSA..
