MBABANE – Regional teams Amawele and Nkwalini United have savoured the sweet rewards of their excellence in the Mandla Mahewu Mbabane Regional Football League.

The A and B Division champions respectively, were showered with trophies and cash prizes on Thursday at Sigwaca House. Amawele received E8 500 for ruling the 18-team A Division League with 75 points, securing promotion to the Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) Southern Super League. Meanwhile, United lifted the B Division trophy with 63 points, bagging E4 500 and a spot in the Mbabane Promotion League. During the award ceremony, HRFA Chairman Dr Comfort Shongwe congratulated both winners and applauded their consistency and perseverance.


“I would like to thank the sponsor too for their continued partnership with us. Since the beginning of our marriage, I believe they have witnessed that football is a powerful tool to promote businesses,” he said. Premier Eswatini Country Sales Manager Kim Thring assured HRFA of future engagements and said the partnership was successful. “Mandla Mahewu and soccer share the same values of power and dedication. Thank you for the opportunity for us to share those values with the community through soccer. I can ensure you that we are here to stay,” Thring said. The total sponsorship was E65 000, which saw every team in both leagues receiving some cash at the end of the marathon depending on their log position. The minimum cash incentive was E600 in both leagues for the bottom loggers.
