MBABANE – The country’s only unbeaten side Young Buffaloes are on the brink of smashing records.
After this past weekend’s 6-2 thrashing of Manzini Sea Birds, Mandla ‘Stofu’ Dlamini’s troops stretched their league unbeaten run to 37 games. Their record stretches from last season. They have not lost a game since game 12 of last season on February 10, last year. That was when they were defeated 1-3 by Royal Leopard. The army side currently occupy second position on the log with 19 games played in the 2022/23 season. They have won 12 and drawn seven to remain three points behind leaders Green Mamba. Alongside Mbabane Swallows, they are also one of two teams that have conceded the least amount of goals this season, while scoring 36 goals.

Buffaloes are currently on the footsteps of Swallows, who boasted a historic 51-game unbeaten run, which crumbled on September 30, 2018. Swallows’ unbeaten league run, which began on May 15, 2016 stretching to 51-games, ended when Green Mamba cruised to a 2-0 victory. Coach Dlamini, in a previous interview with this publication celebrated the record but preferred not to say anything about the Swallows figures. The latter went 38 games without losing a game in the English Premier League in the 2003/2004 season. With an additional nine games in the 2004/2005 season.
