I WANT TO GROW WITH FANS – ZWILE

Manzini - Saxophonist, Afro Jazz musician, songwriter and performer Zwile Bhembe successfully hosted the third episode of his show dubbed, An Evening with Zwile.

The show was held at The George Hotel in Manzini on Saturday. The event was slated for 6pm and the man of the moment took to the stage at 7:30pm until 8.45pm to a packed and eager crowd, alongside the band and backup singers Samantha and Rina. They took a 20 minutes break and returned to the stage just after 9pm and performed for the last set and half an hour.
He was welcomed on stage by Mdura the Comedian, who also warmed up the crowd with his jokes, which left everyone in stitches.

Saxophonist Sebega Rabantheng from Botswana was one of the performers and they, together with Zwile delivered a thrilling performance, which was the crowd’s favourite as they were seen dancing and singing along to the tunes.Worth noting is that Zwile has been hosting the shows for a while now, as this was his third one and according to him this was another successful episode. Speaking to this publication after his performance, Zwile said, “Season three has so much fire and I’m hoping season four will be much bigger and probably requires us to get a bigger venue, maybe a stadium,” shared the excited artist. He also mentioned that his aim was to have such shows reach the level of international Jazz festivals and said he was willing to walk that journey with his fans and his team as well. When probed about his highlight of the night, he poured; out his joy about the way he played: “My highlight is the way I played, I just get carried away and it gets hard to believe that it’s really me playing, I am so proud of myself.” He further went on to thank his team and mentors.

Beautiful

Sebaga, who shared the staged with Zwile, also shared how happy she was to perform for the first time in Eswatini “Eswatini is a very beautiful place, a bit far, but very beautiful, the people have shown so much love, I’ve never felt so much warmth.” She shared that she was happy about her collaboration with Zwile and being with him on stage, especially the response from the audience and she was looking forward to many shows. Sebega performed her first single titled Folapelu and said it was available on all digital streams; “The name is taken from a Bible verse it means guard your heart, and it’s basically just talking about taking care of yourself, who you are and everything around you by guarding your heart, because we sometimes get lost in doing a lot of things and find that we lose ourselves.” Worth mentioning is that she also did a live recording last year and shared with this publication that it would be available on all digital streams in July this year.
