MISFIRING SIHLANGU HOLD LESOTHO

MBABANE – In a bid to prepare for the TotalEnergeis AFCON qualifiers back-to-back match against Cape Verde next week, Sihlangu  played Lesotho and held the home team to a goalless draw yesterday afternoon.

Eswatini will square up against Cape Verde  in back-to-back  Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers between March 24 and March 28, this year . The preparatory match was played in Lesotho at LEFA’s Technical Centre at Bambatha Ts’ita Sports Arena. According to the Lesotho Football Association Facebook page, the teams fielded different players in each half, which neither managed to break the deadlock.

Notable is that Sihlangu coach Dominic Kunene has taken his preliminary squad for the training match. Effort to get comment from Kunene on his mobile phone hit a snag. Meanwhile, Lesotho Football Association described the match as a game of missed chances for Likuena, and noted that their coach also managed to give some players coming from injury an opportunity to work their way back to full fitness.

The national team is expected to return home ahead of fine-tuning its preparations. It is understood that the squad could be still trimmed despite some fans feeling that there were other names that deserved to be added.
