BIG BEND – A woman and her three children were crashed to death by a vehicle while walking on a pavement at Goboyane, Big Bend.

Goboyane is situated along the Big Bend/Lavumisa Road and the community was left shocked as the woman and her children were walking on the pavement when a red sedan veered off the road while attempting to overtake another. Both cars were driving towards Lavumisa from the Big Bend side.
The woman was carrying an infant on her back, while holding the hands of her two other children, walking towards the Lavumisa direction. The driver of the red sedan failed to control his vehicle while overtaking another car and he smashed on the unsuspecting pedestrian with her children. The woman and the children were thrown towards an oncoming vehicle which was driving towards Big Bend.

They were crashed by the two cars and according to eyewitnesses, they died on the scene. When members of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) responded to the scene, the victims were transferred to the nearest health facility. A community member who identified himself as Mbhamali said they were shocked at the horrific scene.

“We are still shocked and we do not understand how this thing happened. It is shocking and I was among those who came to the scene and what I have witness angizange sengikubone (I have never seen such). We know the victims and that is why this accident is personal to us,” said Mbhamali.
Police officers who attended the scene took statements and said they were still going to investigate the cause of the accident.
