MBABANE – Former Mbabane Highlanders gaffer Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala is making waves in South Africa’s DStv Premiership side Marumo Gallants.

The South Africa-born coach recently joined Bahlabane Ba Ntwa as Marumo Gallants is fondly known in the football circles after he left the black and white capital city giants early in the current season. This was after they were booted out of the 2022/23 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup in the preliminary round by DStv Premiership side Royal AM.

‘Sly’ managed to beat Royal AM 3-1 courtesy of goals by Lesiba Nku, Cheick Soumahoro and Mahlatse Makudubela before playing to a 1-all draw against Kaizer Chiefs. The former Free State Stars mentor’s good work since joining the Limpopo-based side has not gone unnoticed as his excellent feat has attracted the selectors of the Coach of the Week accolades from Africa’s number one Soccer Publication, the Soccer Laduma. According to Soccer Laduma the Team of the Week and Coach of the Week are selected from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) DStv Premiership games played from Monday to Sunday. Bahlabane Ba Ntwa are currently sitting perilously on position 15 on the standings with 24 points in 25 games. Mosala was recently quoted saying that he was monitoring some players from Highlanders with the intention to lure them to money-sipping South Africa’s DStv Premiership League.

This include national team Sihlangu attacker Philani Mkhonto. This was received as good news by Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe, who said it showed that they signed quality players and should the players be released to South Africa, it would not benefit Highlanders only but also the national team. The coach could not be reached for comments by the time this report was compiled as his WhatsApp was offline.
