A golden eel yesterday stole the spotlight in the Wang Pong, Phetchabun community, igniting a lottery fever frenzy. The eel, housed in a fish tank, is kept by a resident living in the area known as Ninja Car Care, a car wash and engine oil change service located at house number 59, Moo 3, Baan Khlong Duer, Wang Pong.

The car wash owner, 38 year old Pairoj Mingsoda, shared that a local villager had caught the 1.5-foot-long golden eel from a local water source. As the villager was reluctant to cook it, he sold it to Pairoj, who already owned a fish tank. Pairoj described the eel as uniquely beautiful and decided to keep it in his tank.

The eel exhibited strange behaviour, like lifting its head above water as if listening when spoken to and lying flat when asked to rest. This intrigued Pairoj immensely, reported Sanook.

In response to the peculiar behaviour, the villagers brought flowers and candles to pay respects. They also invited a local spiritual medium for a ceremony. The medium revealed that the eel housed two spirits, named Por Puang Nguen and Mae Puang Tong, believed to bring good fortune to its keeper.

During the ceremony, Pairoj lit a lucky candle and was rewarded with the straight numbers 325 and 055. Many villagers who came to see the eel also asked for Pairoj’s house number, planning to use it to try their luck in the lottery on November 1. Pairoj himself has also bought lottery tickets.

Two weeks ago, in a rather unexpected and somewhat thrilling turn of events, a Thai woman had a surprising encounter with a 70-centimetre-long green snake that had taken refuge in the engine compartment of her Toyota Fortuner, which sparked lottery intrigue in the area. To read more click HERE
