Consumers of Nile Special Lager and its sister products have reason to party and party after Uganda’s beer market leader, Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) announced that despite the negative economic pressures faced by businesses across the world, they will maintain the current prices of its beer products.
Addressing journalists at their head offices in Luzira on Thursday, Onapito Ekomoloit, the NBL Legal and Corporate Affairs Director said they are keeping their prices stable to enable their consumers continue to enjoy their favourite beers as they cope with the economic hardships.
Onapito said that although the prices of most commodities including the raw materials they use in the making of beer had increased everywhere, they still know that Ugandans are still trying to come to terms with the after effects of the pandemic including the lockdown. “We want to stand with Ugandans during the hard times and get through them together where we can,” he said.
He however clarified that their decision is not a guarantee that change in pricing will never happen. “It is a fair move to ensure that our consumers can continue to enjoy our products as they work to get back on their feet,” he said.
He said that they have been with their customers for a long time and they understand the challenges that affect them adding that they want to move at their pace as they go through these hardships,” he added.
He said that the recommended retail prices have been circulated on the company’s social media sites and points of sale to raise awareness and drive price compliance along its value chain. Molly Horn, the NBL Trade Marketing Manager said they expect all their sellers to respect the recommended retail prices.
“If you find anyone selling our beers at a higher than recommended prices or claiming that we have increased our prices, please inform us and we shall follow up,” Horn said. She said customers can relay their complaints on tweeter or through the company toll free line 0800-204204.
