Kampala – Police at Kira Road Police Station have arrested Deborah Apolot a resident of Kisasi Kanisa zone in Kampala for allegedly assaulting her 10-year old son named Mark Omiat.

The arrest follows a viral video that shows the suspect assaulting the child in a gruesome manner.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson says the incident was captured on camera by the neighbors, who later informed the police leading to the arrest of the suspect at about 9pm on Monday.
Upon interrogation, the suspect alleges that on Monday morning, she gave Shs5,000 to her child to buy grocery at the shop but he didn’t return
“She said she looked for the child and found him before taking him home. She admitted beating her son as a punishment for misbehavior.” Said Owoyesigyire
He adds that the victim sustained serious injuries and he is receiving treatment.
Police said the suspect will be charged with child torture.
