St. Basil Institute for the Theology of Creation to Host Online Conference on Ecology and the Theology of Creation

(ZENIT News / Paris, 04.11.2023).- The Catholic Church has long held that the theology of creation is vital to all of God’s saving plans. Understanding the intricacies of the natural world and our place within it is essential to our faith, and as such, the Catechism of the Catholic Church calls for catechesis on the subject to be of major importance.

In recent years, the issue of ecological responsibility has become increasingly urgent, and the magisterium has called for a Catholic approach to the subject. The St. Basil Institute for the Theology of Creation has risen to the challenge and is pleased to announce its inaugural event, an online conference entitled “Ecology and the Theology of Creation.”

The conference, which will take place online on the 22nd of April, seeks to renew academic discourse on the theology of creation and explore how it can inform a uniquely Catholic approach to the issue of the ecological crisis.

The conference will feature a lineup of distinguished speakers, including Pater Edmund Walstein, Thomas Storck, Jared Goff, Fr. Francesco Giordano, Fr. Daniel Dozier, and Shawn Dougherty. In addition, the conference will address both theoretical and practical issues and will provide valuable insights and strategies for applying the theology of creation to the modern world.

The Catholic Church has a rich history of reflection and scholarship on theology, and the St. Basil Institute for the Theology of Creation seeks to contribute to this legacy. Through events like this conference, the Institute hopes to strengthen the Church’s voice on pressing issues of our time.

“Ecology and the Theology of Creation” promises to be a thought-provoking and informative event for all those interested in the intersection of Catholic theology and ecology.
