Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifa’atali Amata joined Vice President Kamala Harris, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Leader Kevin McCarthy, other Members of Congress, and U.S. Administration officials in mourning and remembering the late Queen Elizabeth II at the ornate Washington National Cathedral.

The Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Wednesday, Sept. 21, was in partnership with the British Embassy to the United States.

“Queen Elizabeth II was known as a devout Christian, and she served a record more than 70 years as monarch of the United Kingdom, a close ally and trusted friend of the United States,” said Aumua Amata. “It was humbling to be at this beautiful service in her memory as the U.S. joins our British friends in honoring her distinguished life. She visited 117 countries including much of the Pacific during her reign.”

The historic Cathedral, officially The Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in the City and Diocese of Washington, is the second largest church building in the nation, on a 57-acre site visited by well over a quarter million people every year.
