‘Can he speak Sepedi?’: ‘Skeem Saam’ fans on Hungani as Tbose

Skeem Saam fans are confident former Scandal! actor Hungani Ndlovu will nail the role of Thabo ‘Tbose’ Maputla in the SABC1’s educational soapie.

‘HUNGANI NDLOVU IS MULTI-LINGUAL’

The former Scandal! star Hungani Ndlovu, who exited the e.tv soapie in November 2020 has replaced fan-favourite actor Cornet Mambolo for the role of Mapitsi Maputla’s husband Thabo “Tbose” Maputla in Skeem Saam.

Viewers of the soapie took to social media to raise concerns about Ndlovu’s new role after entertainment commentator Phil Mphela announced his new character.

One major concern for fans was, “does the actor speak Sepedi?” as the role requires a Northern-Sotho speaking actor.

Fans of Ndlovu defended him by stating that although he primarily spoke English in his previous role in Scandal!, Ndlovu is multilingual.

According to soapie fans, he’s a Xitsonga-actor, who can also speak Sepedi and Sesotho.

‘SKEEM SAAM’ FANS REACT TO NEW TBOSE

@LOUISA72032271: “Hungani is a great actor and very talented, but some things can’t be replaced PERIOD! CORNET IS TBOSE, and TBOSE is CORNET. Like Hungani is Romeo and Romeo is HUNGANI.”
