Kaizer Chiefs clip Dube Birds wings to move up to fifth!

Kaizer Chiefs registered their fourth win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Swallows FC in a league match played at Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday.

Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Keagan Dolly netted for Chiefs in the second half before Waseem Isaacs scored a consolation goal for Swallows in the second half.

Chiefs made two changes to the side that drew 1-1 with AmaZulu in the MTN8 but that didn’t impact their rhythm as they played with determination from the onset.

The visitors had a number of goalscoring chances with Kgaogelo Sekgota and Bimenyimana combining well in the final third.

Bimenyimana was guilty of squandering those chances as Chiefs easily managed to get behind the Swallows defence but he made amends in the 35th minute as he headed past Sanele Tshabalala from a Sekgota cross.

With everyone thinking the scoreline would still be 1-0 at half-time, Dolly struck from a deadball situation which Chiefs had won outside the box to make it 2-0.

Swallows reacted with an early second half change, introducing Thato Makua to try and poke holes in the Chiefs midfield be able to get to Itumeleng Khune.

Musa Nyatama’s men had a promising second half as Chiefs appeared happy to sit back and protect their two-goal lead, but that meant inviting trouble.

There were nervy moments as Swallows had very good entries into the Chiefs penalty box so much so that one of their attempts hit the framework.

However, the attempt that hit the woodwork came before Isaacs pulled one back with a header, leaving Khune helpless in the Chiefs goal.

However, Chiefs still managed to defend their lead as they registered the 2-1 win, much to the delight and relief of Arthur Zwane.
